Swinging

We took the girls to the park for their second swing session. Kellie took them last week and reported back about the huge grins. I wanted to see it for myself.

Isabella took to the swing naturally, holding on and enjoying the ride. Alex liked a little gentler swing, but after rearranging her seating position wanted to swing higher. Ok, I'll say it again...too cute.

Sleepy Time

I love looking at these sleeping girls. Sometimes they curl up with their doll. Sometimes they sprawl out without a care in the world. And of course, they are the cutest girls in the world. ;-)

Summertime

Summertime is here (almost). The Kentucky Derby folks were parading around in their hats, so too will the girls.

My Little Pony

Kids sure progress fast. First they are just sitting up, next they are rocking around on the horse. What next, riding a bicycle? Too cute.

Exercise

Babies need exercise to develop those little muscles, right? So how do you do it? Kellie and I send the twins thru morning calisthenics. Here is Isabella demonstrating her push up technique. And a 1, and a 2, and a....

Sharing

The girls have been playing well together and sharing their toys. Or atleast we think. Sometimes one will take the toy from the other and everybody continues to be happy. It might just be that the girls don't yet get attached to their "current" toy and they will just find a new one. It's cute to watch them play together and steal each other's toys. For some reason I don't think sharing will always rule the day. If it does, everybody should have a twin! Kellie tells me about Alex taking Isabella's toy or the other way around, and the fussing begins but I haven't seen it. My girls are perfect. ;-)

Expressions

Kids make the silliest expressions. I love it.

The Gift

Ok, now some background...

All of this would not have been possible without the generosity of Christa Nielsen and her family: Dick, Trent, and Ruby. After many unsuccessful attempts at having children, both traditionally and non-traditionally, Christa offered to carry our kids for us. Kellie's sister Kim had tried twice before with no results. Holy cow! We were on the receiving end of generosity that I will be striving for the rest of my life to balance out.

Kellie's egg and my sperm produced some embryos in the lab, two of which we transferred to Christa. It looks like one didn't take and the other split into identical twins. I feel so lucky.

Alexandra Christa May and Isabella Kimberly May have middle names to reflect the steps to get here.

Here's Christa along the way. (Before we were able to grab the kids and bring them back to Louisville, Colorado)

Solid Food

The girls have begun to eat solid food now. I've been trying to teach them that the food goes on the inside of their face.

Rolling Over

It's always exciting watching the girls develop new skills. Alex learned to roll over and then kept doing it, and doing it, and doing it. It's amazing how quickly they are learning how their bodies work. And I love watching them. :-)
