Potty

Kellie has always tried to talk to the girls about the potty from day one. We even have a few books about it which regularly get read. No longer expecting any privacy, the girls invite themselves into the bathroom while we are going about our business. They often can't decide which is more interesting, the potty or opening and closing the bathroom door.

A week ago, Alex decided she wanted to use the potty and produced a good sized poo for her effort. We had to celebrate, baking cup cakes and blowing up balloons. Nothing like positive reinforcement, eh? Hopefully by the time they are 12 or we run out of frosting we will be able to stop celebrating each visit.

I'm ambivalent and rather like diapers for the girls. They are super convenient. I'm dreading trying to go somewhere and all of a sudden having to find a bathroom. Then 15 minutes later we'll have to find another one for the other girl. 15 minutes after that, Kellie will need to go. ;-) Right now I'm fine having them pretend they are astronauts and wear diapers. But there will probably be some more parties in our future.
